Mohamed Macbool Misharif Ahamath, an accomplished young inventor and entrepreneur from Addalaichenai in Sri Lanka's Ampara District, has been officially selected to represent the nation at the prestigious Silicon Valley International Invention Festival - SVIIF 2026 in Santa Clara, California. Representing Sri Lanka through the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC), Misharif will showcase his groundbreaking creation under the Online Participation category at the event, organized by the IFIA-International Federation of Inventors' Associations - IFIA with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO. Misharif’s invention, a "Smart Spectacle System Utilizing Artificial Intelligence for Visually Impaired Persons," is an advanced wearable assistive platform designed to boost independence and safety for visually impaired individuals. The patent pending technology seamlessly integrates Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, real time object detection, currency recognition, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), GPS navigation, and multilingual voice interaction into a single affordable device. Already recognized with national accolades and international honors such as the Kalam's Golden Award 2025, Misharif’s selection for SVIIF 2026 highlights the immense potential of Sri Lankan youth to deliver socially impactful, world class technology to the global stage.
